Sports Therapy is an aspect of healthcare that is specifically concerned with the prevention of injury and the rehabilitation of the patient back to optimum levels of functional, occupational and sports specific fitness, regardless of age and ability.
It utilises the principles of sport and exercise science incorporating physiological and pathological processes to prepare the participant for training, competition and where applicable, work.
Our sports therapist is Phil Sheddon.
Phil has worked at the Tarka Clinic for almost 16 years, and is a full member of The Society Of Sports Therapists.
His work consists of treatment, management & rehabilitation of specific musculoskeletal injuries such as:
Strain, sprains & ruptures of soft tissue, ligaments & tendons
Fractures & mechanical dysfunction of the spinal column
Post operative care
Phil is also qualified through the Society of Sports Therapists, in all aspects of electrotherapy such as; ultrasound, interferential, low level laser therapy.
