Tarka Clinic has been located at Paiges Lane, Barnstaple since it was opened by Sir Ranulph Fiennes Bt MBE on 16th July 1999. In July 2003 the company Tarka Clinics Ltd, was formed

In total, there are nearly 20 practitioners and staff currently working from the Paiges Lane premises. Peter's wife Gillian, a qualified nurse, has joined the company as managing director, and she is responsible for human resources, accounts and the retail department.

The Tarka Clinic is fully accessible by wheelchair, with double entrance doors, a toilet suitable for disabled people and a room with a wide door for wheelchair access.

The Tarka Clinic is a dynamic, vibrant practice. There are fifteen practitioners offering various complementary approaches to the treatment of musculoskeletal problems.  In keeping with the academic and educational interests of the directors, there is also a developing programme of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) which will encourage practitioners to enhance their skills in a number of different directions.

Advice on ergonomic and postural issues is given on an individual basis, to public groups, and also to local corporate bodies in both the public and private sector.

In the retail section, there is an excellent and exclusive range of vitamin and  mineral supplements and Aloe Vera products stocked in our sales area. There is a selection of 'Gilly's Comforters', wheatbags which can be warmed (or frozen) and applied to joints, where heat (or cold) therapy is applicable. Lumbar support belts, joint supports and heel lifts are also available. These products are selected to enhance the effectiveness of the therapeutic interventions given by the practitioners. Our team are always on the look out for products which have a proven therapeutic effect.

Our receptionists are a friendly and helpful team, who can usually answer the many queries that arrive on the three telephone lines on the front desk.  Receptionists are our 'front line', and make every effort to ensure that our patients feel welcomed into the clinic environment.
